Common Problems
Solid B48 powertrain, but verify the starter recall first
The G22 420i is a refined and largely dependable premium coupe. The B48 engine has well-known minor issues (oil filter housing, VANOS, valve cover gasket) but no catastrophic failure modes when serviced properly. The global starter motor recall and ongoing iDrive 8 software maturation are the main current concerns.
