The second-generation M3 replaced the homologation-special E30 with a more refined inline-six grand tourer. European models received the S50B30 (286 hp, single VANOS) from 1992 to 1995 and the S50B32 (321 hp, double VANOS) from 1995 to 1999. Both engines use individual throttle bodies and rev happily to 7,400 rpm. Available as coupe, sedan, and convertible, with roughly 71,000 units produced.
