The G42 230i is the rear-wheel-drive 2 Series Coupé with the well-known B48 four-cylinder turbo. Sold alongside the M240i, it sits in the mainstream sweet spot of the range. The B48 is one of BMW's better modern engines, and most cars are still inside factory warranty. Common Problems
Generally reliable but watch oil filter housing area
The 230i G42 is a relatively young car and most are still in factory warranty. The B48 is among BMW's better modern engines. The main long-term concern is the oil filter housing gasket, which is endemic to the B46/B48/B58 family. Otherwise it is a well-engineered coupe with the usual premium German electronics complexity.
