The rarest factory-performance Volvo sedan: limited production of around 750-1,500 units per year globally. Two distinct engine eras exist. The 2014-2016 models use the turbocharged 3.0-litre SI6 inline-six (B6304T5, 350 hp) with a 6-speed Aisin automatic and Haldex AWD, while 2017-2018 models switched to the twin-charged 2.0-litre Drive-E four-cylinder (367 hp) with an 8-speed Aisin gearbox. Both share Ohlins dampers, Brembo brakes, and a more aggressive Haldex AWD calibration. Performance-sedan running costs apply, driven primarily by the Brembo brake consumables and 245/35R20 tire size.· more· less

Supercharger issues (2017-2018 cars) Premium brake and tire costs
Buy if: You want a rare, fast Volvo with genuine performance hardware and can verify service history, especially for the Haldex AWD and supercharger on 2017-2018 models.
Avoid if: You cannot budget for Brembo brake and 20-inch tire consumables, or are looking at a 2017-2018 model with no documentation of supercharger health.

Common Problems
Two distinct reliability profiles depending on engine era
The 2014-2016 inline-six models are the more predictable choice, with PCV and coolant system as the main concerns alongside the universal AWD angle gear maintenance. The 2017-2018 four-cylinder twin-charged models add supercharger complexity as a potential high-cost item. Both eras share the Polestar-specific consumable cost burden from Brembo brakes and 20-inch tires. With proper maintenance (especially Haldex, angle gear, and gearbox fluid changes that Volvo considers lifetime fills), these are rewarding performance cars. The limited production numbers mean finding a well-maintained example requires patience.
