A limited-production performance estate built by Polestar with roughly 1,500 units produced globally across both S60 and V60 variants. Early cars (2014-2016) use the smooth 3.0-litre SI6 inline-6 turbo producing 350 hp, while 2017-2018 models switched to a 2.0-litre twin-charged (turbo plus supercharger) Drive-E four-cylinder making 367 hp. Both versions feature Ohlins adjustable dampers, Brembo six-piston front brakes, 20-inch wheels, and Haldex-based AWD. Competes on performance with the BMW M3 and Audi S4, but in a practical estate body with Volvo's safety heritage.· more· less

Common Problems
Reliable engines, but specialist suspension and brake costs add up
Both engine variants are fundamentally robust. The inline-6 (2014-2016) is well-proven and can exceed 200,000 km without major powertrain issues. The twin-charged four-cylinder (2017-2018) is more complex but generally reliable outside the known supercharger bypass valve concern. The real cost driver is the Polestar-specific hardware: Ohlins dampers that will eventually leak, Brembo brakes with expensive consumables, and 20-inch performance tires. Budget for specialist suspension work and source a Volvo or Ohlins specialist rather than a general dealer to keep costs manageable.

Pre-Purchase Inspection Checklist
General checks
Specific for this vehicle
Recalls and Technical Service Bulletins
Front seat belt anchor cable fatigue (2011-2018 S60/V60) Verify completed
Door latch component breakage (2015-2017 V60) Verify completed
Side air bag inflator failure (2017 V60) Verify if applicable
Contact Volvo with the VIN to verify all recalls have been completed. The seat belt cable recall is particularly important as it affects all V60 Mk1 models from 2011-2018 and involves a safety-critical component.
Warranty Status
Factory warranty (2 years) Expired on all V60 Polestar models
Rust perforation warranty (12 years) May still apply on 2014-2016 models through 2026-2028
Extended warranty availability Available through Volvo dealers, but Ohlins leaks typically excluded
All V60 Polestar Mk1 models are outside their original 2-year factory warranty. Volvo's 12-year rust perforation warranty may still be active on some cars. Note that extended warranties from Volvo or third parties typically exclude performance suspension components like Ohlins dampers.
