The A7 C7 is Audi's four-door coupe, sharing the MLB platform and 3.0 V6 TDI engine with the A6 but wrapped in a distinctive sportback body. Depending on variant and model year, power ranges from 204 hp to 272 hp, all paired with quattro all-wheel drive and either the 7-speed S-tronic or 8-speed Tiptronic automatic. Popular as a refined motorway cruiser, it offers strong torque, good fuel economy for its size, and a combination of style and practicality.· more· less

Common Problems
Strong engine, but the V6 layout creates expensive leak-prone areas
The EA897 3.0 V6 TDI is a fundamentally robust engine that regularly reaches 200,000+ km with proper maintenance. However, the V6 layout concentrates coolant valves, oil cooler gaskets, and EGR components deep in the engine valley, making leaks both common and expensive to address due to labour intensity. Cars with the S-tronic DL501 add gearbox mechatronics as a potential cost centre. Facelift models (2015-2018) have improved tensioner components but add AdBlue system complexity. Cars used primarily on motorways tend to develop fewer emissions-related problems.

Specific for this vehicle
Recalls and Technical Service Bulletins
Emissions defeat device software (23X6) for EA897 3.0 TDI V6 (2010-2018 models) Verify completed
KBA-ordered removal of illegal thermal window software (Euro 6 models, 2021 campaign) Verify completed
Turbocharger oil strainer mesh size too small (2012-2017 production) Verify completed
Towing bracket locking mechanism defect (2015-2018, if equipped) Verify if applicable
The Dieselgate emissions recall (23X6) is mandatory for all 3.0 TDI models sold in the EU. A further KBA-ordered recall in 2021 addressed illegal thermal window software on Euro 6 variants. The turbocharger oil strainer recall affects 2012-2017 production and prevents oil starvation to the turbo bearings. Contact Audi with the VIN to verify all recalls have been completed.
Warranty Status
Factory warranty (2 years) Expired on all C7 models
Rust perforation warranty (12 years) May still apply to 2015-2018 models
Extended warranty availability Third-party only for most cars
All Audi A7 C7 models are outside their original 2-year factory warranty. The 12-year rust perforation warranty may still apply to late production cars (2015-2018). Extended warranties for older C7 models are typically available only through third-party providers, with common exclusions for pre-existing drivetrain conditions.
