The Q8 e-tron is a substantial facelift of the original Audi e-tron, built in Brussels from 2023 until production ended in February 2025. The 55 quattro uses a 114 kWh battery (106 kWh usable) with dual asynchronous motors, delivering around 370-490 km real-world range depending on speed and conditions. It slots between the smaller Q6 e-tron and the now-discontinued e-tron GT in Audi's electric lineup.· more· less

Production ended, long-term support uncertain Motor coolant seal risk persists
Buy if: You want a refined premium electric SUV with good range and can verify the motor coolant reservoirs and recall history before buying.
Avoid if: You are uncomfortable owning a discontinued model or cannot budget for potential motor or air suspension repairs outside the standard 2-year warranty.

Common Problems
Refined successor to a proven platform, but discontinuation adds uncertainty
The Q8 e-tron 55 is fundamentally the same car as the well-understood e-tron 55, with a larger battery (Samsung SDI cells only, no LG fire risk), revised motors, and more mature software. The motor coolant seal remains the most expensive potential failure, though it appears less common on Q8 e-tron builds than on early e-trons. Air suspension, 12V drain, and brake rotor issues are manageable with awareness. The biggest new concern is the February 2025 production end: while parts should remain available through the VAG network (shared components with Q7/Touareg), long-term software update support is uncertain, and resale values may be affected.

Specific for this vehicle
Recalls and Technical Service Bulletins
Brake pedal booster screw torque (46P7) - screw connecting pedal rod to booster actuator may loosen, reducing brake effectiveness. Builds Feb 2018 - Jun 2024, 96,180 vehicles globally. Critical - verify completed
Brake pressure line over-tightened (47DE) - connection may fail causing brake fluid leak. Builds May 2023 - Mar 2024. Verify completed
Rearview camera image delay/failure (90TV) - software error can prevent backup camera display when shifting to reverse. 2019-2026 Audi models. Verify completed
Front passenger occupant detection system (ODS) - electrical connection may loosen, deactivating airbag. 2023-2024 models. Verify completed
Driver side airbag mounting - may not be properly secured to seatback frame. 2023-2024 models. Verify completed
The brake pedal recall (46P7) is the most safety-critical: it affects nearly 100,000 vehicles globally including 14,601 in Germany. Contact Audi with the VIN to verify all recalls have been completed. Since production ended in February 2025, ensure all final software updates and recall work are documented.
Warranty Status
Factory warranty (2 years, no km limit) May still apply on 2024-2025 builds. Verify expiry date with VIN.
HV battery warranty (8 years / 160,000 km) Covers capacity below 70%. Samsung SDI cells. Check remaining years.
Motor warranty (EU) Standard 2 years only. No EU extension (US received 10 years / 190,000 km).
Rust perforation warranty (12 years) Check remaining coverage based on first registration date.
The most recent Q8 e-trons (late 2024 / early 2025 builds) may still be within factory warranty. However, the motor coolant seal failure is the most expensive potential issue and is only covered for 2 years in Europe. The HV battery has strong coverage (8 years), but ensure you verify remaining warranty with Audi using the VIN, especially given that production has ended.
