Audi's first-generation compact crossover on the PQ35 platform, shared with the Volkswagen Tiguan Mk1 and SEAT Ateca predecessor. The EA211 1.4 TFSI in the Q3 8U is a well-proven engine that regularly exceeds 200,000 km with proper maintenance. The switch from timing chain (EA111) to timing belt eliminated the predecessor's worst reliability concern. The main ownership risks are the plastic water pump/thermostat housing (affects all variants) and the S tronic automatic gearbox (affects automatics only). Manual gearbox cars with post-2016 production dates and complete service history represent the lowest-risk purchases. Regular motorway driving and correct oil specification are the best predictors of trouble-free ownership.
