The Q8 e-tron is the facelifted successor to Audi's original e-tron, built on the same MLB evo platform at the Brussels plant until production ended in February 2025. The 50 quattro uses dual asynchronous motors producing 250 kW (340 hp) with a 95 kWh battery (89 kWh usable), delivering around 350-400 km of real-world range. It shares core hardware with the earlier e-tron 55 but benefits from a larger usable battery, improved efficiency, and Samsung SDI cells rather than the recall-affected LG modules. Air suspension is standard, as is Audi's dual-touchscreen MMI system.· more· less

Common Problems
Improved over the earlier e-tron, but motor seal risk remains
The Q8 e-tron 50 benefits from later production compared to the original e-tron: Samsung SDI batteries (no LG recall), an updated air suspension compressor, and improved software. Battery degradation data from the e-tron platform is encouraging, with many cars showing only 5-7% capacity loss at 50,000-80,000 km. The motor coolant seal remains the most significant concern. While incidence appears lower on later builds, the fundamental design is unchanged and European buyers lack the 10-year motor warranty extension that US owners received. Air suspension and 12V battery drain are manageable with proper maintenance. Budget for the motor risk and verify all recall work before buying.

General checks
Specific for this vehicle
Recalls and Technical Service Bulletins
Brake pedal pushrod screw connection to brake booster actuator (2019-2024 e-tron/Q8 e-tron, 96,000+ vehicles globally) Critical - verify completed
Brake pressure line over-tightened connection causing potential fluid leak (2024 Q8 e-tron built May 2023 - March 2024) Critical - verify completed
Rearview camera image failure due to electrical interference (2019-2026 multiple Audi models including Q8 e-tron, 356,000+ vehicles) Verify completed
Front passenger airbag occupant detection sensor connection (2023-2024 models) Verify completed
Driver side airbag mounting to seatback frame (2023-2024 Q8 family vehicles) Verify completed
Portable charging cable overheating risk (multiple Audi EV and PHEV models) Verify completed
The brake pedal recall is the most critical safety item: the pushrod screw connecting the brake pedal to the booster can detach, resulting in loss of braking. This recall affects 96,000+ vehicles globally and owner notifications were sent in April 2026. Verify completion with an Audi dealer using the VIN. The brake pressure line recall applies specifically to 2024 models built between May 2023 and March 2024.
Warranty Status
Factory warranty (2 years, no km limit) Expired or expiring on most used Q8 e-trons
HV battery warranty (8 years / 160,000 km) Covers capacity below 70%. Check remaining coverage by VIN.
Motor warranty (EU) Standard 2 years only. No EU extension (US got 10 years / 190,000 km).
Rust perforation warranty (12 years) Active on all Q8 e-trons, valid until at least 2035
Most used Q8 e-trons are at or approaching the end of the standard 2-year factory warranty. The HV battery retains 8-year / 160,000 km coverage against falling below 70% capacity. Audi extended the electric motor warranty to 10 years in the USA, but this does not apply to European-market vehicles. Some owners have obtained goodwill motor repairs in Europe, but this is discretionary. Consider third-party EV warranty coverage if purchasing outside the factory warranty period.
