Volkswagen's seven-seat SUV replacement for the Tiguan Allspace, built on the MQB evo platform at the Wolfsburg plant from late 2024. The 2.0 TDI comes in two power outputs: 150 hp (FWD) and 193 hp (4MOTION). Both use the latest EA288 evo diesel engine paired with the DQ381 wet-clutch 7-speed DSG. The engine family has been in continuous development since 2012 and powers millions of VW Group vehicles, giving it a solid reliability foundation despite the Tayron itself being new.· more· less

Common Problems
Proven engine in a new body, with typical diesel and first-year caveats
The Tayron 2.0 TDI benefits from VW's most refined diesel engine generation. The EA288 evo has no major mechanical weak points, and the DQ381 wet-clutch DSG is a significant improvement over earlier dry-clutch units. The primary risks are emissions-related (AdBlue, EGR, DPF) and software teething issues common to new MQB evo vehicles. Owners who drive regular motorway distances will have few problems. Short-trip urban driving significantly increases the risk of expensive DPF and AdBlue faults. Meaningful long-term reliability data for the Tayron specifically will only emerge from 2027 onwards.
