Common Problems
Strong drivetrain on paper, but ACT and DSG add notable risk
The T-Cross 1.5 TSI has more performance and refinement than the 1.0 variants but introduces two significant risk areas: the ACT cylinder deactivation system (kangaroo effect) and the standard DQ200 DSG gearbox. Pre-2020 cars without the ACT software update or with poorly maintained DSG fluid are the most exposed. The 2024 facelift with the EVO2 engine resolves most of the kangaroo behaviour and introduces a refined DQ200, making post-facelift cars notably more predictable to own. Manual gearbox is not offered on this engine in most markets, so DSG risk cannot be avoided.
