Specialist companies like EV Clinic now offer repair kits for the APP310 drive unit, with bearing replacement costing approximately €800-1,500 at a specialist. Full drive unit replacement at a Volkswagen dealer is significantly more expensive at €2,500-3,500 including labour. The issue is uncommon on the ID.7 at current fleet ages but remains a risk to monitor as mileage accumulates beyond 80,000-100,000 km.

Volkswagen recalled approximately 94,000 MEB vehicles in 2024-2025 (campaign 93P7) for battery modules that may not meet specification. If a module is faulty, voltage differences between cells can trigger warning lights and reduce driving range. The recall covers vehicles built between June 2023 and August 2024, which includes early ID.7 Pro S production.
