1980-1983 · 1.6L CR/JK diesel (54 hp) 4-cylinder naturally aspirated
The Golf Mk1 diesel was one of the first mass-produced diesel passenger cars in Europe when it launched in 1976 with the 1.5-litre CK engine. The 1.6-litre CR/JK variant arrived in 1980, adding a little more torque and a stronger block than the crack-prone 1.5. Derived from the EA827 Audi petrol block with reinforced internals for diesel compression, the engine is fully mechanical with no electronics whatsoever. Today these are genuine Oldtimer classics eligible for H-Kennzeichen registration in Germany, with a dedicated community keeping parts available.· more· less
