Peugeot's D-segment contender that competed with the Mondeo, Passat, and Insignia. The 1.6 HDi uses the PSA/Ford co-developed DV6C engine shared across millions of Peugeot, Citroen, Ford, and Volvo vehicles. It is adequate for a large saloon, offering 112 hp (pre-facelift) or 115 hp (post-2014), with fuel consumption around 4.5-5.5 l/100 km on longer trips. Parts are cheap and widely available across Europe.· more· less

Common Problems
Reliable diesel if well-maintained, but sensitive to driving pattern
The DV6C engine is fundamentally proven across millions of vehicles, and high-mileage examples exceeding 200,000 km are not uncommon. However, the emissions equipment (DPF, EGR) and turbo are all sensitive to short-trip driving patterns. Cars with regular highway use and complete service history are significantly more reliable. The electronic parking brake and boot seal are the main non-engine weak points. Avoid the EGC semi-automatic gearbox.
