The first-generation Peugeot 5008 is a practical 7-seat MPV sharing its platform with the 3008. The 2.0 HDi uses the proven DW10CTED4 engine, widely regarded as one of the more durable PSA diesels. With 150 hp (or 163 hp with the automatic), it handles the weight of a fully loaded family car comfortably. Parts are cheap and widely available, and the engine is well understood by independent garages across Europe.· more· less

Buy if: You need an affordable 7-seat diesel MPV, do regular motorway driving, and can find one with a complete service history.

Common Problems
Proven diesel, but standard diesel maintenance needs apply
The DW10CTED4 2.0 HDi is widely considered one of the more reliable PSA diesel engines, with some examples exceeding 300,000 km without major powertrain issues. Most serious concerns (DPF clogging, EGR fouling, turbo actuator sticking) are caused by short-trip urban driving that prevents proper regeneration and accumulates carbon deposits. Cars with regular motorway use and complete service histories are significantly more dependable. Budget for the DMF/clutch replacement between 100,000-150,000 km, and keep up with DPF additive refills.
