Common Problems
Cheap to own but needs attention to electrics and ignition
The Peugeot 307 2.0 petrol is mechanically simpler than its diesel counterpart, with no turbo, DPF, or dual mass flywheel to worry about. The EW10J4 engine is a proven unit that can exceed 200,000 km with proper maintenance. The main areas of concern are the ignition system (coil packs), BSI electrical module, and the AL4 automatic gearbox if fitted. Manual gearbox cars with good service history are the most reliable choice. At this age, all examples should be carefully inspected for coolant leaks, oil consumption, and electrical gremlins.
