The first-generation 5008 is a practical 7-seat MPV sharing its platform with the 3008. The 1.6 THP uses the BMW/PSA co-developed Prince engine (EP6DT/EP6CDT/EP6FDT depending on year), which is powerful enough for this heavier body but requires more attentive maintenance than many competitors. Parts are widely available across Europe and independent specialists know this engine well.· more· less

Common Problems
High-maintenance engine that rewards diligent owners
The 1.6 THP Prince engine requires more attention than many alternatives in this class. The timing chain is the most critical concern and should be treated as a scheduled replacement by 80,000-100,000 km. Carbon buildup on intake valves is inevitable with direct injection and needs periodic walnut blasting. The HPFP is a known weak point but can be addressed affordably through specialist refurbishment. Cars built after November 2011 with the updated timing chain tensioner are notably safer purchases. With diligent maintenance (oil changes every 10,000 km using 5W-30, regular spirited driving to keep the turbo and intake clean, coolant level monitoring), the engine can reach well beyond 150,000 km.
