The Peugeot 207 succeeded the hugely popular 206 and became one of Europe's best-selling superminis. The 1.4 8v petrol uses the long-running PSA TU3 engine, a simple and well-proven unit without turbocharging or direct injection. With regular oil changes, the engine can comfortably exceed 200,000 km. The main ownership concerns centre on the car's electrical systems rather than the engine itself: ECU water damage, electric power steering failures, and window regulator faults are the most commonly reported issues.· more· less

Buy if: You want a cheap-to-run city car with a mechanically simple engine and can verify the electrical systems are working properly.
Avoid if: The power steering feels heavy or intermittent, warning lights are on, or the service history shows long gaps between oil changes.

Common Problems
Mechanically simple but electrically fragile
The TU3 engine in the 207 1.4 is one of PSA's most proven units and can easily exceed 200,000 km with basic maintenance. The main ownership risks are electrical: the EPS system, ECU water damage, and window regulators are well-documented weak points. Head gasket oil leaks are common but usually cosmetic rather than catastrophic. Overall running costs are low for cars with known history, but an unknown-history 207 can quickly become expensive if multiple electrical faults surface at once.
