Skoda's compact liftback on the PQ26 platform, positioned between the Fabia and Octavia. The 1.0 TSI three-cylinder replaced the earlier 1.2 TSI with the 2017 facelift and was available in 95 and 110 hp variants, both with optional DSG. Production ended in early 2019 when the Scala took over as Skoda's compact offering. Parts are widely shared with other Volkswagen Group cars, keeping maintenance affordable.· more· less

Common Problems
Reliable when maintained, but turbo and DSG need monitoring
The 1.0 TSI in the Rapid is a well-proven Volkswagen Group engine found in millions of cars. It uses a timing belt (not a chain), which is more reliable than the problematic chain tensioner in the older 1.2 TSI it replaced. The main watch points are turbo actuator sticking from gentle driving, carbon buildup on intake valves, and the DQ200 DSG if equipped. Manual-gearbox Rapids with varied driving patterns and complete service history are significantly more reliable. Most issues are well-documented and can be diagnosed during a pre-purchase inspection.
