The second-generation C4 Picasso is a spacious and distinctive compact MPV that sold well across Europe as a family hauler. The 1.2 PureTech 130 three-cylinder turbo arrived in 2015 as a petrol alternative to the popular BlueHDi diesels, offering reasonable motorway performance and good fuel economy for a car of this size. Renamed C4 SpaceTourer from May 2018, the five-seat version ended production in mid-2020.· more· less

Common Problems
Wet timing belt is the defining ownership risk
The 1.2 PureTech is a refined and efficient engine, but its wet timing belt design has become one of the most discussed reliability concerns in the European car market. Belt degradation, oil consumption, and turbo coking are interconnected problems that are all worsened by short-trip driving and delayed oil changes. Cars with documented belt replacement, complete service history using the correct oil specification, and regular motorway use are significantly lower risk. Stellantis has acknowledged the issue with a 10-year extended warranty and compensation programme, which provides some reassurance — but only for cars with proper documentation.
