The first-generation C4 Picasso brought distinctive French MPV design to a segment dominated by the Scenic and Touran. The 1.6 HDi DV6 diesel was the volume seller across Europe, offering good fuel economy for family use. Available as a five-seat Picasso or seven-seat Grand C4 Picasso, both sharing the same platform and powertrain. Parts are affordable and widely available through the PSA network.· more· less

Common Problems
Affordable but needs proactive maintenance to stay reliable
The C4 Picasso Mk1 with the 1.6 HDi can serve well as a family MPV when properly maintained, but neglected examples become expensive to fix. The turbo oil starvation issue is the most serious concern and is directly linked to oil change discipline. DPF and EGR problems are avoidable with regular motorway driving. Electrical complexity, particularly the BSI module and electronic parking brake, adds another layer of potential cost that simpler competitors do not have. Cars with full service history showing regular oil changes and a healthy turbo are worth pursuing. Avoid cars with cold-start turbo whine or depollution warnings.
