The fourth-generation C3 is a completely new car built on Stellantis' Smart Car platform, replacing the Mk3 in late 2024. Too new for definitive conclusions, but fundamentally improved
The Mk4 C3 eliminates the single biggest concern of its predecessor: the wet timing belt. The Gen3 1.2 PureTech with timing chain is a substantially redesigned engine, though it has had early-production teething issues (camshaft bolt, fuel hose recall). As of early 2026, long-term reliability data does not yet exist for this generation. The early recall pattern is typical for a new platform launch and not unusual in the industry. Clutch wear in heavy city use and infotainment glitches are the most commonly reported day-to-day concerns.
