The 992 Carrera S is the mid-range performance variant of Porsche's eighth-generation 911. Its 3.0-litre twin-turbo flat-six produces 450 hp (473 hp from the 2025 992.2 facelift), paired exclusively with an 8-speed PDK dual-clutch gearbox. The 992 platform dominates TUV inspections with minimal defect rates and has built a strong reliability reputation across its first six years of production.· more· less

Common Problems
One of the most reliable modern sports cars
The 992 has an exceptionally clean reliability record for its class. No widespread engine, turbo, or transmission failures have emerged across six years of production. The main ownership concerns are electronic (battery drain, infotainment glitches, speaker failures) and cosmetic (interior rattles) rather than mechanical. The PADM sensor issue primarily affected 2019-2020 cars and is covered by Porsche's service campaign. PDK, PASM, and rear seal concerns are low-probability and mostly relevant as the car accumulates higher mileage.
