The fatigue monitoring camera on the A-pillar is also very strict, triggering warnings when the driver glances at mirrors or wears certain sunglasses. Lane Keeping Assist can apply strong steering corrections on roads with unclear markings or construction zones. These are tuning issues expected to improve through OTA updates. The cost risk is essentially zero as this is purely a software calibration matter, though it affects driving comfort and confidence.

A small number of owners have reported intermittent failures with the AC charging port, where the vehicle fails to initiate or maintain a charging session on AC power. Symptoms include the charging indicator not activating or the session dropping after a few minutes. Service centres have found this difficult to diagnose consistently, as the fault is intermittent. Causes can include connector contact issues, software handshake failures with specific charger types, or onboard charger module faults. When hardware replacement is needed (onboard charger module), costs range from around 500 to 800 euros including labour. This issue is uncommon and most likely covered under the 6-year warranty for used buyers purchasing recently produced cars.

Some owners have reported abnormal clunking or rattling noises from the front suspension when driving over bumps or uneven road surfaces. Like most modern EVs, the Sealion 7 uses a small 12V auxiliary battery to power vehicle electronics when the main battery is not active. BYD vehicles across the range have shown a pattern of 12V batteries degrading faster than expected, with some needing replacement within 18 to 24 months. The 12V battery is charged from the main HV battery, but if the main battery charge is very low or the car sits unused for extended periods, the 12V battery can drain completely, preventing the car from powering on. Replacement is straightforward and costs 150 to 350 euros depending on whether it is done at a BYD dealer or an independent shop. Keeping the main battery above 20% and using the car regularly helps prevent premature 12V drain.
