BYD's flagship electric sedan for Europe, the Han AWD combines a 380 kW dual-motor setup with an 85.4 kWh LFP Blade Battery for around 521 km WLTP range. It competes with the BMW i4, Mercedes EQE, and Tesla Model 3 on price and performance. Build quality has improved from early exports, though the European service network and parts supply chain are still maturing.· more· less

DC fast charging limited to 120 kW Immature European service network
Buy if: You want a powerful, well-equipped electric sedan with strong battery durability and can accept a smaller dealer network than established European brands.
Avoid if: You rely on fast DC charging for long trips (120 kW peak is slow for this class) or live far from a BYD service point.

Common Problems
Durable battery, but software maturity and service access remain concerns
The BYD Han AWD benefits from the proven LFP Blade Battery, which shows minimal degradation (8-12% at 100,000 km in early Chinese market data). The drivetrain is mechanically straightforward with no gearbox or engine to fail. However, software stability, infotainment bugs, and occasional hardware niggles with door handles and ADAS sensors create a steady stream of minor to moderate issues. The biggest ownership uncertainty is the developing European service network and parts supply chain. BYD's 6-year/150,000 km warranty provides solid coverage, but finding a qualified workshop outside major cities can be challenging.

Pre-Purchase Inspection Checklist
General checks
Specific for this vehicle
Recalls and Technical Service Bulletins
Motor controller active discharge function defect (Oct 2025, BYD global recall covering 115,000+ vehicles including some Han variants) Verify with VIN
Potential software update for 12V battery management system (BYD service campaign) Verify completed
BYD's European recall history is limited as the brand only entered the market in 2022-2023. Contact BYD Europe or your local dealer with the VIN to verify all applicable recalls and service campaigns have been completed. Chinese-market recalls do not always apply to European-spec vehicles, but always confirm.
Warranty Status
Factory vehicle warranty (6 years / 150,000 km) Active on most used Han AWD models (first European deliveries from 2023)
Blade Battery warranty (8 years / 250,000 km, 70% SOH) Active on all European Han models. Extended from original 160,000 km limit in late 2025.
E-drive system warranty (8 years / 150,000 km) Covers electric motors and power electronics
Anti-perforation warranty (12 years) Body rust perforation coverage
BYD offers one of the most generous warranty packages in Europe. The warranty is transferable to subsequent owners with documented service history. Most used Han AWD models (2023+) will still be within their 6-year vehicle warranty, and all will be within the 8-year battery warranty. Verify warranty transfer conditions with BYD dealer.
