Common Problems
Promising technology, but early-adopter risks remain
The BYD Seal U DM-i Design uses proven LFP battery chemistry and a relatively simple 1.5-litre engine in a series-parallel hybrid layout, which should be fundamentally reliable. The main concerns are software maturity and the still-developing European dealer and parts network. Most mechanical issues reported so far are relatively minor (suspension noise, 12V battery) and fall within warranty. However, the car has been on sale in Europe for less than two years, so long-term reliability data simply does not exist yet. Buyers should budget for the possibility that some issues will require dealer visits that may involve longer wait times than established European brands.
