The Atto 3 EVO is BYD's significantly reworked compact electric SUV for Europe. It moves from front-wheel drive to rear-wheel drive, gains an 800V architecture with 220 kW DC fast charging, a larger 74.8 kWh Blade Battery (LFP) with 510 km WLTP range, and a new Google-based infotainment system. The core powertrain is new compared to the Mk1 but draws on BYD's extensive EV experience across millions of vehicles globally.· more· less

Common Problems
Promising hardware, but real-world track record is still building
The Atto 3 EVO benefits from BYD's global EV experience and addresses several Mk1 weak points: faster charging, three-phase AC charging, improved software, and revised build quality. The LFP Blade Battery remains one of the most durable chemistries available. However, the 800V architecture is new for BYD in this segment, and the European dealer network is still developing. Most potential issues are software-related and likely to improve through OTA updates. The generous 6-year vehicle warranty and 8-year battery warranty provide meaningful protection for early adopters.

Recalls and Technical Service Bulletins

ADAS software safety update for Euro NCAP compliance (2022-2024 Mk1 model years) Not applicable
The Atto 3 EVO Mk2 is a new model with no recalls at the time of writing (June 2026). The Mk1 steering column controller recall (China, Sep 2024) affected vehicles produced Nov 2022 to Dec 2023 and does not apply to the EVO. Contact BYD Europe with the VIN to verify recall status for any specific vehicle.
Warranty Status
Vehicle warranty (6 years / 150,000 km) Active on all Atto 3 EVO models (earliest expire 2032)
Battery warranty (8 years / 250,000 km, min. 70% SOH) Active on all Atto 3 EVO models until at least 2034

Anti-perforation warranty (12 years, unlimited km) Active on all Atto 3 EVO models

BYD's European warranty is among the most generous for EVs. All warranties transfer to subsequent owners provided the car has documented service history at authorized BYD service centers. Servicing at unauthorized shops or modifications to electrical, battery, or software systems may void related coverage. The 8-year / 250,000 km battery warranty significantly exceeds the industry standard of 160,000 km.
