The BYD Seal is a mid-size electric sedan competing directly with the Tesla Model 3 and BMW i4. Built on BYD's e-Platform 3.0 with a cell-to-body Blade Battery, it offers strong range (up to 520 km WLTP) and competitive pricing for its segment. BYD's vertical integration means the battery, motor, and most electronics are manufactured in-house, which simplifies the supply chain but also means the aftermarket ecosystem in Europe is still developing.· more· less

Common Problems
New to Europe with teething issues, but fundamentally sound
The BYD Seal Design RWD is too new in Europe for comprehensive long-term reliability data. The LFP Blade Battery is one of the most durable EV battery chemistries available, with excellent degradation characteristics. Known issues are predominantly software-related (infotainment lag, charging compatibility, ADAS calibration) and typical of a new-to-market EV brand. The growing but still limited European dealer network and parts availability remain the primary ownership risk. BYD's 6-year vehicle warranty and 8-year / 250,000 km battery warranty provide strong coverage for early adopters.
