Common Problems
Low powertrain risk, but software and ride quality need improvement
The BYD DM-i Super Hybrid system has proven reliable across millions of vehicles in China, and the 1.5L Xiaoyun engine and EHS e-CVT have no documented major failure patterns. Most reported issues are software-related (infotainment bugs, 12V battery management, ADAS calibration) and addressable through OTA updates. The firm ride and interior build quality are design characteristics rather than defects, though they may accelerate wear on suspension components. The main ownership uncertainty is BYD's still-developing European dealer and service network. With 6-year vehicle and 8-year battery warranty, most issues are covered for early owners.
