Renault's newest compact crossover sits between the Captur and Austral, built on the CMF-B platform at the Valladolid plant in Spain. The 1.3 TCe H5Ht engine, co-developed with Nissan and Mercedes-Benz, is paired with a 12V mild-hybrid starter-generator. The primary gearbox is a 6-speed manual (EDC automatic from mid-2025). It shares most of its mechanicals with the well-established Captur, providing a reasonable reliability baseline for this otherwise very new model.· more· less

Common Problems
Proven engine in a new wrapper, limited long-term data available
The Symbioz TCe 145 benefits from the well-established 1.3 H5Ht engine family used across millions of Renault, Nissan, and Mercedes-Benz vehicles since 2017. Known weak points (thermostat housing, GPF clogging, turbo actuator sticking) are well-documented from sibling models. The 6-speed manual gearbox eliminates the EDC dual-clutch concerns that affect automatic variants. As a 2024+ model, most examples remain under warranty. The immediate priority for any buyer is confirming the parking brake recall (0EY9) has been completed.

Recalls and Technical Service Bulletins
Parking brake actuator position sensor (code 0EY9, production April 2024 - May 2025) Critical - verify completed
Contact a Renault dealer with the VIN to verify the 0EY9 parking brake recall has been completed. This recall also affects Captur, Austral, Espace, and other Renault models from the same production period. Given how recently the Symbioz launched, additional service campaigns may emerge.
Warranty Status
Factory warranty (2 years) Active on most examples (launched mid-2024)
Extended warranty Available up to 5 years through Renault dealers
Corrosion perforation warranty 12 years from first registration
All Symbioz examples are still within their original 2-year Renault factory warranty as of early 2026. Verify the exact delivery date with the seller. Renault offers extended warranty packages up to 5 years. The 12V mild-hybrid battery is covered under the standard powertrain warranty.

Peugeot 3008 Mk2 1.2 PureTech 2016-2024
Well-documented timing belt failures on the 3-cylinder PureTech. Higher risk profile than the Symbioz's chain-driven 1.3 TCe engine.
Renault Arkana 1.3 TCe Mk1
Renault Arkana 1.3 TCe Mk1 2021-2025
Same engine but EDC-only (no manual option). The mandatory dual-clutch gearbox adds reliability concerns the Symbioz manual avoids. Discontinued 2025.
Ford Kuga Mk3 1.5 EcoBoost
Ford Kuga Mk3 1.5 EcoBoost 2020-present
Similar segment. The 1.5 EcoBoost has its own coolant intrusion recall history but is generally solid once all campaigns are completed.
