The last naturally aspirated Clio RS and widely regarded as one of the best hot hatches of its generation. The F4R 2.0L engine revs freely to 7,100 rpm and is paired exclusively with a 6-speed manual gearbox, making this a pure driver's car. Cup and Gordini variants differ in trim and suspension setup but share the same mechanicals. Parts are RS-specific and more expensive than standard Clio items, with Brembo front brakes and 17-inch wheels as standard.· more· less

Common Problems
Robust engine, but gearbox and corrosion need careful checking
The F4R 2.0 naturally aspirated engine is fundamentally reliable and can exceed 150,000 km with proper maintenance including timely cambelt changes. The main ownership concerns are the TL4 gearbox synchro wear (check for crunching on cold downshifts), universal subframe corrosion, and exhaust manifold failures driven by worn engine mounts. Parts are RS-specific and cost more than standard Clio items. A well-maintained example with a smooth gearbox and clean subframe is a sound ownership proposition.
