A compact rear-motor electric city car based on the Renault-Daimler shared platform (also underpinning the Smart EQ ForFour). With just 22 kWh usable battery and no DC fast charging, it was designed purely for urban use. The Cameleon integrated charger allows up to 22 kW AC charging, but its thermal design is a documented weak point shared with the Renault Zoe. Production ended in June 2024.· more· less

Common Problems
Simple drivetrain, but charging system is the Achilles heel
The Twingo Electric's motor and battery pack are fundamentally reliable with minimal degradation reported. However, the Cameleon integrated charger shares a well-documented thermal design weakness with the Renault Zoe platform. If the charging system remains healthy, running costs are very low. Budget for a potential charging system repair as the single biggest financial risk of ownership.

Warranty Status
Factory warranty (2 years) Expired on most used examples
Battery warranty (8 years / 160,000 km) May still be active on 2020-2024 cars
Rust perforation warranty (6 years) Check registration date
The 2-year factory warranty is expired on all pre-2024 models. The battery warranty (8 years / 160,000 km, 66% capacity guarantee) may still cover the high-voltage battery. Note that charging system components (Cameleon charger, DC-DC converter) are NOT part of the battery warranty and fall under the standard 2-year period.
