The fastest production Mini ever made, limited to 3,000 units worldwide. The GP3 pushes the B48 2.0L turbo to 306 hp with a stronger crank, uprated pistons, bigger twin-scroll turbo, and a Torsen mechanical limited-slip differential. Available only with the Aisin 8-speed torque converter automatic and stripped of rear seats, it weighs roughly 70 kg less than the standard JCW. Despite its track-focused character, the underlying B48 powertrain is fundamentally robust and many examples reach high mileages without catastrophic failure.· more· less

Common Problems
Proven engine, but performance stresses key components
The B48 engine is fundamentally robust, and many examples reach high mileages without catastrophic powertrain failure. However, the GP's 306 hp output and stiff track-focused chassis accelerate wear on engine mounts, suspension bushings, and transmission fluid. The Aisin 8-speed automatic requires proactive fluid changes despite MINI's lifetime-fill claim. Oil filter housing inspection becomes important after 80,000 km. Most issues are preventable with attentive maintenance, but parts costs run higher than the standard JCW due to GP-specific components and limited availability.

Pre-Purchase Inspection Checklist
General checks
Specific for this vehicle
Recalls and Technical Service Bulletins
Rear side trim panel crash pad assembly (2020 F56 Hardtop models) Verify completed
Rollover sensor in airbag control unit (2020-2021 F56 models) Verify completed
Coolant system ventilation hose (select 2020 B48 models) Verify if applicable
Contact a MINI dealer with the VIN to verify all recalls have been completed. The side impact protection recall is particularly important to confirm. The GP's limited 3,000-unit production run means most cars are well-tracked through the dealer network.
Warranty Status
Factory warranty (3 years, no km limit) Expired on all 2020-2021 GP models
Rust perforation warranty (12 years) Active until 2032-2033
All JCW GP models are now outside their original 3-year factory warranty (2+1 scheme introduced November 2016). No factory-backed extended drivetrain warranty is available from MINI. Third-party warranty providers may cover the GP but often exclude pre-existing conditions and performance-related wear. The 12-year body rust perforation warranty remains active.
