The AMG variant of Mercedes' mid-size electric SUV, built on the dedicated EVA2 platform at the Tuscaloosa plant. Dual permanent magnet synchronous motors produce 350 kW (476 hp) with AMG-tuned AIRMATIC air suspension, rear-axle steering, and staggered 20-22 inch wheels. The 89 kWh usable battery supports DC fast charging up to 170 kW. Production runs from 2022 to 2026, after which it will be indirectly replaced by the GLC EQ on the newer MB.EA platform.· more· less

Common Problems
Software-heavy first-generation EV with multiple recalls but a robust drivetrain
The EQE SUV AMG 43's dual-motor drivetrain and battery pack have not shown patterns of major mechanical failure. Most reported issues are software-related: MBUX crashes, battery management shutdowns, phantom braking, and OTA update failures. These are typically resolved by dealer software updates at no cost, though they require time and patience. The main financial risks as the car ages come from the AMG-tuned AIRMATIC air suspension (expensive when it eventually needs attention), the cooling system expansion valve, and 12V battery management. Multiple safety recalls have been issued, making it essential to verify completion before purchase. Cars built from mid-2024 onward benefit from improved software stability.
