The Insignia B is Opel's final GM-era mid-size car, lighter and better-built than its predecessor. The 2.0 turbo petrol (B20NFT/B20NHT) was the range-topping engine, available in 200 hp, 230 hp (GSi facelift), and 260 hp (GSi pre-facelift) outputs. Higher-output versions came exclusively with an Aisin 8-speed automatic and optional AWD with a GKN Twinster torque-vectoring system. Production ended in mid-2022 with no direct successor.· more· less

Common Problems
Solid drivetrain but demands strict maintenance discipline
The 2.0 turbo in the Insignia B is a capable engine that can reach high mileages when maintained properly. The critical factor is oil specification compliance: using the wrong oil type risks LSPI piston damage, and the engine is prone to oil leaks that worsen with age. The turbo oil return pipe recall must be verified as completed on 2017-2019 models. Carbon buildup on intake valves is an expected maintenance item on direct-injection engines. The Aisin 8-speed automatic is generally more robust than DSG alternatives but benefits from periodic fluid changes. Overall running costs are moderate for a car of this performance level.

Factory warranty (2 years) Expired on all used Insignia B models
Rust perforation warranty (12 years) May still apply on 2017+ models
Extended warranty Available through Opel dealers and third-party providers
All Insignia B models are outside their original 2-year factory warranty. Opel's 12-year rust perforation warranty may still be active on later models. Extended warranty options are available through Opel dealers but typically exclude pre-existing oil leaks.
