The Corsa C 1.4 was a popular step up from the base 1.2, offering the same compact footprint with noticeably more mid-range torque for motorway driving. Two engine variants were used: the Z14XE (2000-2003, timing belt) and the Z14XEP Twinport (2003-2006, timing chain). Both produce 90 hp and are broadly reliable when maintained, with cheap and widely available parts making running costs low even at this age.· more· less

Common Problems
Simple and affordable to maintain with well-understood faults
The Corsa C 1.4 is a straightforward car with well-documented issues. The gear linkage bushing is the most common complaint but costs very little to fix. The EPS and timing chain (Z14XEP) or timing belt (Z14XE) are the main areas requiring attention. Both engine variants can comfortably exceed 200,000 km with regular servicing. Parts availability is excellent and prices are among the lowest for any European car. The main risk is buying one with a neglected timing chain (Z14XEP) or an Easytronic gearbox, which should be avoided entirely if possible.

Contact an Opel dealer with the VIN to verify all recalls have been completed. Given the age of these cars (20+ years), most recall work should have been completed long ago, but it is still worth confirming with the manufacturer.
Warranty Status
Factory warranty (2 years) Expired on all Corsa C models
Rust perforation warranty (12 years) Expired on all Corsa C models
All Opel Corsa C models are well outside their original 2-year factory warranty and 12-year rust perforation warranty. No extended warranty programs are available from Opel for cars of this age.
