Stellantis' affordable electric compact crossover, built on the Smart Car Platform shared with the Citroën ë-C3 Aircross and Fiat Grande Panda. The 44 kWh LFP battery is inherently durable and the Emotors M2 motor is mechanically simple, keeping routine running costs low. As a very new platform launched in late 2024, long-term reliability data is still limited, but early owner reports point to software immaturity, charging quirks, and notable cold-weather limitations as the main areas of concern.· more· less

Common Problems
New platform with software growing pains, mechanically simple
The Frontera Electric's drivetrain is mechanically straightforward: a single electric motor, no gearbox oil to change, no timing components to fail. The LFP battery is among the most durable chemistries available and should retain capacity well over 200,000 km. The main concerns are typical of a first-year platform car: immature software, charging quirks, and the absence of features like a heat pump and active battery heating that competitors offer. As ownership data accumulates, the long-term reliability picture will become clearer. For now, the hardware appears sound but the software needs further development.

Contact Opel with the VIN to verify all recalls have been completed. The brake pedal recall (KBA 15618R) applies to a small production batch. The fire-related recalls (KV7 and KUU) are specific to the hybrid variant and do not affect the electric model, but verify with the VIN to be certain.
Warranty Status
Factory warranty (2 years) May still apply on 2024-2025 cars. Check purchase date.
High-voltage battery (8 years / 160,000 km) Guarantees 70% capacity retention. Likely still active.
Rust perforation warranty (12 years) Active on all current Frontera models
Electric All In package Optional: includes 8 years mobile charging assistance and roadside cover
The Frontera Electric is new enough that many used examples will still be within the 2-year factory warranty. The 8-year battery warranty transfers with the car. Verify the exact warranty expiration date with Opel using the VIN and original purchase date.
