2019-2022 · 64 kWh (204 hp) single-motor front-wheel-drive electric

One of the first genuinely practical and affordable long-range EVs in Europe. The e-Niro offers 400+ km WLTP range from its 64 kWh battery, wrapped in a compact crossover body. It shares its platform and drivetrain with the Hyundai Kona Electric, meaning known issues and fixes overlap closely between both cars.

Buy if: You want a practical, proven electric crossover with class-leading warranty coverage and low running costs.
Avoid if: You need rapid charging above 77 kW or want a car with no known drivetrain niggles to worry about.

Common Problems
Very reliable for an EV, with a few known but manageable issues
The e-Niro is one of the most reliable EVs on the market. Battery degradation is minimal even at high mileages, and the electric motor is fundamentally robust. The main concerns — reduction gear bearings and PTC heater — are well-documented and often caught under Kia's generous 7-year warranty. Cars bought used with remaining warranty have a significant safety net. Out of warranty, the reduction gear and heater are the only potentially expensive repairs.
