The E-GMP platform has a documented history of ICCU failures on the EV6 and Ioniq 5, caused by degradation of a silicon carbide MOSFET in the LDC (Low-Voltage DC-DC Converter). However, it benefits from revised hardware introduced after the SC327 recall campaign (November 2024). Kia has extended ICCU warranty to 15 years / 300,000 km across Europe for affected platforms. For EV4 buyers, the risk is low because production started after the hardware revision, but long-term reliability of the revised components remains unproven as of mid-2026. Owners of other Kia E-GMP vehicles in Northern Europe have reported heat pump issues in sub-zero conditions, including weak or absent cabin heating and software prioritising battery thermal management over passenger comfort. The EV4 offers the heat pump as optional equipment (standard on GT-Line S). When it malfunctions, the car falls back to resistive heating, which significantly reduces winter range.
