Common Problems
Very new model with inherited platform concerns, but well-covered by warranty
The Kia EV4 is too new for long-term reliability data, but it benefits from lessons learned on the E-GMP platform since 2021. The most significant concern, ICCU failure, is now covered by a 15-year extended warranty in most European markets. The 400V variant appears to have fewer documented ICCU issues than the 800V models used in the EV6 and Ioniq 5. Software maturity is the main day-to-day annoyance. Kia's 7-year/150,000 km factory warranty provides exceptional coverage for a used buyer. Overall risk profile is low for an EV in this price segment.

Recalls and Technical Service Bulletins
E-GMP ICCU inspection and software update (platform-wide, verify applicability) Verify with VIN
The Kia EV4 is a very new model with limited recall history. The E-GMP platform ICCU recall primarily targeted pre-2024 800V models (EV6, Ioniq 5), but Kia may extend inspections to 400V models. Contact Kia with the VIN to verify any applicable recalls or service campaigns.
Warranty Status
Factory warranty (7 years / 150,000 km) Active on most used EV4s (production from 2025)
EV battery warranty (8 years / 160,000 km) Covers capacity below 70%, active on all EV4s
ICCU extended warranty (15 years / 300,000 km) Covers ICCU replacement in most European markets
Rust perforation warranty (12 years) Active on all EV4s
Kia's 7-year warranty is fully transferable to subsequent owners without additional cost. This makes used EV4s exceptionally well-covered. Verify remaining warranty duration with a Kia dealer using the VIN, especially for the ICCU extended warranty which varies by market.
