The Mk2 Leon Cupra brought serious performance to SEAT's lineup with the EA113 2.0 TFSI engine producing 240 hp (BWJ) or 265 hp in the Cupra R (CDLA). Sharing its K04-turbocharged powertrain with the Audi S3 8P, it offered comparable straight-line speed at a lower price point. Available with a 6-speed manual or optional 6-speed DSG (DQ250 wet clutch), the Cupra remains a popular used performance buy across Europe.· more· less

Common Problems
Solid performance car if maintained, but requires attentive ownership
The EA113 2.0 TFSI with K04 turbo is a well-proven powertrain shared with the Audi S3 8P. Most issues are preventable with regular maintenance: cam follower checks every 30,000 km, diverter valve replacement as needed, and walnut blasting the intake valves before 120,000 km. The cam chain tensioner is the most serious concern, as failure can cause catastrophic engine damage. Cars with documented service history and a revised tensioner fitted are significantly lower risk. The Mk2 Leon's age (all now 14+ years old) means water ingress and corrosion should be checked carefully.
