Common Problems
Promising refresh, but limited long-term data
The Juniper refresh addresses several weaknesses of the original Model Y, including improved suspension, better build quality, and updated interior materials. The LFP battery is durable and tolerates daily full charging. However, as an early-production refresh with a new body design and new features (rear screen, full-width light bar), some teething problems persist. The single-motor RWD layout is the simplest variant with the fewest potential failure points. Tesla's OTA update capability resolves many software issues remotely. Most mechanical concerns are covered under the 4-year factory warranty.

Pre-Purchase Inspection Checklist
General checks
Specific for this vehicle
Recalls and Technical Service Bulletins
Battery pack contactor failure (March-August 2025 production): faulty InTiCa solenoid can cause loss of drive power Critical - verify completed
Missing certification label (November 2024 - April 2026 production): label may not have been applied during assembly Verify completed
Reverse light wiring defect (February-July 2025 production): reverse lights may not illuminate Verify if applicable
Check the Tesla app or contact Tesla with the VIN to verify all recalls have been completed. The battery contactor recall is particularly important as it can cause sudden loss of drive power. Tesla replaces the contactors free of charge, typically within one hour.
Warranty Status
Factory warranty (4 years / 80,000 km) Active on most used Juniper models (production started January 2025)
Battery and drive unit warranty 8 years / 160,000 km with minimum 70% capacity retention
Body corrosion warranty 12 years / unlimited km
Most used Tesla Model Y Juniper vehicles will still be within the 4-year factory warranty. The battery and drive unit are covered separately for 8 years. Tesla does not offer official extended warranty programs in Europe, but third-party options exist. Verify remaining warranty coverage using the VIN in the Tesla app.
