The entry-level Model 3 that made Tesla accessible to European buyers. Available from 2019 as the Standard Range Plus (renamed RWD in 2022), this single-motor variant uses either Panasonic NCA cells (2019-mid 2021) or CATL LFP cells (late 2021-2023), with 50-60 kWh usable capacity and around 350-490 km WLTP range depending on year. Shanghai-built European cars from mid-2020 onward have noticeably better build quality than early Fremont production.· more· less

Very low routine maintenance LFP battery tolerates daily 100% charging
Suspension ball joints wear early Thin factory paint chips easily
Buy if: You want an efficient, low-maintenance RWD EV and can find a post-2020 Shanghai-built example with verified recall completion.
Avoid if: You need flawless build quality, live in a very cold climate without home charging (LFP range drops significantly), or want traditional dealer support.

Common Problems
Mechanically simple with well-documented weak points
The Standard Range Plus benefits from having no engine, gearbox, or exhaust system to maintain. Battery degradation is manageable, with LFP models (late 2021+) being particularly robust even with daily 100% charging. NCA models (2019-2020) degrade slightly faster but still typically retain over 85% capacity at 150,000 km. The main risk areas are suspension ball joints (especially pre-2021 in wet climates), the 12V battery on pre-2022 cars, and the heat pump on 2021+ models. Shanghai-built examples are significantly better finished than early Fremont production. Overall risk costs are among the lowest in this price segment.
