Tesla's electric SUV flagship with distinctive falcon wing rear doors and seating for up to seven. The 100D variant offers a 100 kWh battery, dual motors producing 423 hp, and a real-world range around 400 km. Build quality improved from 2018 onward, but the falcon wing doors, auto-presenting front handles, and air suspension add complexity that the simpler Model 3 and Y do not share. The MCU1 touchscreen in pre-March 2018 cars is a recall item that should be verified as completed.· more· less

Common Problems
Complex for an EV, with several expensive potential failures
The Model X 100D is mechanically simpler than an equivalent ICE luxury SUV, with no engine, transmission, or exhaust system to worry about. However, the falcon wing doors, air suspension, auto-presenting handles, and MCU1 touchscreen add layers of complexity not found on the Model 3 or Y. The drivetrain itself (motors and battery) is covered by an 8-year / 240,000 km warranty and is generally reliable. Most expensive surprises come from the body hardware: doors, handles, and suspension. A well-maintained 2018 or later example with all recalls completed is a significantly safer buy than an early 2016-2017 car.
