The Juniper is Tesla's mid-cycle overhaul of the Model Y, the best-selling car in Europe. Built at Giga Berlin from January 2025, it features a single-piece die-cast rear floor, upgraded suspension, a new V2 heat pump, and significantly improved interior quality with a 16-speaker audio system and rear passenger screen. The dual-motor Long Range AWD delivers 440 hp and over 500 km WLTP range from an 84.7 kWh battery.· more· less

Common Problems
Improved over Mk1 but new suspension concerns need monitoring
The Juniper Model Y addresses the Mk1's biggest weaknesses: the V2 heat pump has zero reported failures so far, build quality is measurably better, and the single-piece die-cast rear floor improves structural rigidity. However, the new suspension tuning has introduced a widespread front clunk issue that Tesla is actively addressing. Paint quality remains below segment standards. The electric drivetrain itself is reliable and backed by an 8-year / 192,000 km warranty on battery and drive units. For a used purchase, focus inspection on suspension noise, paint condition, and verify the battery contactor recall status on March-August 2025 builds.

Specific for this vehicle
Recalls and Technical Service Bulletins
Battery pack contactor failure (March-August 2025 builds) causing sudden loss of propulsion. Physical repair required at service center. Critical - verify completed
Rearview camera circuit board short (2024-2025 models) causing loss of backup camera image. OTA software update. Verify completed
Rearview camera image delay up to 11 seconds (May 2026, vehicles with HW3). OTA software update. Verify completed
TPMS warning light malfunction. OTA software update. Verify completed
Front hood latch detection error. OTA software update. Verify completed

Tesla issues frequent OTA software recalls that are applied automatically. For physical recalls (especially the battery contactor), contact Tesla with the VIN to verify completion. Check both NHTSA and EU recall databases.
Warranty Status
Basic vehicle warranty (4 years / 80,000 km) Check remaining coverage based on delivery date
Battery and drive unit (8 years / 192,000 km) Active on all Juniper models (2025+), 70% capacity guarantee
Extended service agreement Available from Tesla: 2 extra years / 30,000 km for battery and drive unit (€2,000, €500 deductible)
Body and paint (limited) 4 years / 80,000 km for body repairs. Paint excluded from most claims.
The Juniper's 4-year basic warranty likely still covers most used examples given the 2025 launch. The 8-year battery/drive unit warranty is the strongest coverage. Note that suspension components, paint, and 12V battery are covered under the basic warranty only, not the extended drivetrain warranty.
