The third-generation i10 (AC3) is Hyundai's European-designed city car, built at the Turkey plant from January 2020. The 1.0 MPI Kappa G3LD three-cylinder produces 67 hp through a 5-speed manual, keeping things mechanically straightforward with port injection, a timing chain, and no turbo. Production ends in January 2026 with no direct successor planned, making this the final generation. In the What Car? 2025 Reliability Survey it scored a perfect 100%, finishing first out of 26 small cars with not a single owner reporting a fault.· more· less

Common Problems
One of the most reliable city cars currently available
The AC3 i10 with the 1.0 Kappa G3LD engine has an outstanding reliability record, scoring 100% in the What Car? 2025 survey with zero faults reported. The simple mechanical layout (no turbo, no DPF, timing chain, port injection, 5-speed manual) eliminates most common failure points. The German TUV does flag the steering system and headlight alignment more often than average, and rear brake sticking is a well-documented nuisance that Hyundai has addressed with revised brake pad compounds. The 5-year unlimited-km warranty covers many used examples. Budget for rear brake maintenance and occasional clutch monitoring in city use, and running costs remain among the lowest available.
