A compact electric crossover born from the Mercedes-Benz and Geely joint venture, built on Geely's SEA platform alongside the Volvo EX30 and Zeekr models. The Pro+ uses a 66 kWh NMC battery with a rear-mounted 200 kW motor, delivering 440 km WLTP range and 150 kW DC fast charging. It marks a radical departure from the old Smart city car: bigger, faster, and packed with technology. Build quality is generally solid, but early production cars (2022 to Q3 2023) carry several known serial defects that were progressively resolved.· more· less

Common Problems
Software-heavy ownership experience with improving reliability
The Smart #1 Pro+ is a capable EV crossover with solid fundamental engineering on the Geely SEA platform. Early production cars (2022 to Q3 2023) carry several known serial defects including the AC charger issue, door handle malfunctions, and motor mount noise, most of which have been addressed under warranty. Software maturity is the primary ongoing concern, with infotainment glitches and OTA update issues widely reported. Cars built from late 2023 onward are significantly improved. The electric drivetrain itself has shown no widespread reliability concerns, and the CATL battery pack has no reported degradation issues in the timeframe available.
