The XE S brought Jaguar's proven supercharged AJ126 V6 to a compact executive sedan, producing 340 hp from launch (2015) and 380 hp from 2017. Rear-wheel drive with a ZF 8-speed automatic made it a genuine BMW 340i and Mercedes C43 rival. The V6 was dropped from European sale in 2018 due to WLTP emissions regulations, making these relatively rare. The engine is shared with the F-Type, F-Pace, XF, and various Land Rover models, giving it a broad specialist knowledge base.· more· less

Common Problems
Robust engine but cooling system demands attention
The AJ126 supercharged V6 is fundamentally a strong engine that reaches high mileages when properly maintained. However, the plastic cooling system components are a known weak point across all JLR models using this engine. Proactive replacement of coolant pipes with aluminum upgrades, shortened oil change intervals, and monitoring of the water pump are key to reliable ownership. The brake disc corrosion and infotainment issues add nuisance cost but are not mechanically serious. Most expensive repairs involve supercharger removal for access to lower-mounted components.
