The Avenger is Jeep's European-market compact crossover built on the Stellantis CMP platform shared with the Peugeot 2008, Opel Mokka, and Alfa Romeo Junior. The e-Hybrid pairs the third-generation 1.2 EB2 turbo three-cylinder (now with timing chain instead of the problematic wet belt) with a 48V mild-hybrid system and an electrified 6-speed dual-clutch gearbox. European Car of the Year 2023, it is competitively priced and efficient around town, though the new e-DCS6 transmission and 48V system have attracted a notable number of early-life complaints.· more· less

Avoid if: You do mostly stop-and-go city driving where the e-DCS6 gearbox jerking is most noticeable, or you are not comfortable with a car that has had several safety recalls in its first two years.

Common Problems
New platform with teething issues, improving with updates
The Avenger e-Hybrid uses a significantly improved Gen3 chain-driven engine that avoids the notorious wet timing belt problems of earlier PureTech units. However, the e-DCS6 dual-clutch gearbox is a new and still-maturing component with well-documented early-life issues. Multiple safety recalls in the first two years of production (fire risk, fuel leak, steering) are concerning but typical for a new Stellantis platform. Software updates have resolved many of the reported problems. Long-term reliability data is still limited given the car's recent launch. Verifying recall completion is essential before any purchase.

Specific for this vehicle
Recalls and Technical Service Bulletins
48V BSG fire risk: insufficient clearance between particulate filter and starter-generator (2023-2026 production) Critical - verify completed
High-pressure fuel line leak, recall code 58C (Jan 2024 - May 2025 production) Critical - verify completed
Electric power steering pinion rupture risk, recall code 84B (Apr-May 2024 production) Verify completed
ADAS emergency brake and lane departure warning deactivation (2024 production) Verify completed
Stop & Start coding error causing elevated emissions (2024 production) Verify completed
The Jeep Avenger has had five EU Safety Gate recalls in its first two years of production. Contact a Jeep dealer with the VIN to verify all recalls have been completed. The 48V BSG fire risk and fuel line recalls are particularly critical due to the fire hazard involved.
Warranty Status
Factory warranty (2 years) May still apply on 2024-2025 models
Stellantis 48V hybrid battery 8 years / 160,000 km
Gen3 1.2 engine extended coverage Up to 10 years / 180,000 km (if maintained per schedule)
Rust perforation warranty 8 years
Early 2023 models are likely outside the original 2-year factory warranty. Stellantis offers extraordinary coverage on the 1.2 engine (up to 10 years / 180,000 km) for properly maintained vehicles. The 48V hybrid battery has a separate 8-year warranty. Always verify remaining warranty coverage with a Jeep dealer using the VIN, as coverage depends on first registration date.
