Common Problems
Simpler than the 1.3 T4 but FireFly engine and electrics need attention
The Jeep Renegade 1.0 T3 benefits from having only a manual gearbox option, which eliminates the problematic DDCT dual-clutch automatic that plagues the 1.3 T4 variant. The FireFly engine itself is reasonably durable when maintained with the correct oil and regular service intervals, but the PCV diaphragm and water pump are known weak points shared with other Stellantis models using this engine family. The Uconnect infotainment screen will almost certainly develop some degree of delamination or display issues over time. Rear tail light wiring is a safety concern worth checking on every example. Overall reliability is average for the class, broadly comparable to other small turbocharged crossovers.

Pre-Purchase Inspection Checklist
General checks
Specific for this vehicle
Recalls and Technical Service Bulletins
Seat belt buckle switch sensor connector fault affecting airbag deployment (2019-2023 production) Critical - verify completed
Incorrect rear bumper reverse light assembly (Sep 2021 - Dec 2023 production) Verify completed
Occupant restraint controller configuration memory fault (Dec 2017 - Apr 2019 production) Verify completed
The seat belt buckle sensor recall is particularly important as it can prevent front airbag deployment in a crash. This affects a large number of 2019-2023 Renegades built at the Melfi plant in Italy. Contact a Jeep dealer with the VIN to verify all outstanding recall work has been completed.
Warranty Status
Factory warranty (2 years) Expired on all pre-2024 models
Rust perforation warranty (8 years) May still be active on 2018+ models
